November 16th 2005 Stone settles her lawsuit over plastic surgery issue

A settlement has been reached in a lawsuit filed by Sharon Stone against a Beverly Hills doctor she accused of implying that he had performed cosmetic surgery on her famous face, a lawyer said Tuesday. Stone, 47, accepted an offer by Dr. Renato Calabria to perform several charity surgeries for underprivileged children involved in her philanthropic efforts, Kevin Leichter, a lawyer representing Calabria, said Tuesday.
"It became plain to all parties that the lawsuit was the result of a misunderstanding" Leichter said. "Dr. Calabria did not perform plastic surgery on Ms. Stone." The lawsuit was dismissed Monday, he said. Stone's complaint, filed last December in Los Angeles County Superior Court, stemmed from magazine articles. The lawsuit stated that Stone has never undergone a face-lift.

November 9th 2005 Sharon Stone pens hurricane song

Sharon Stone has co-written a song to raise funds for victims of Hurricane Katrina. Come Together Now, released as a single in the US on 29 November, features the Celine Dion, Wyclef Jean, Joss Stone and more than a dozen other artists. Proceeds will go to relief charities Habitat for Humanity and Angel's Place.

"Every time this song gets played and gets bought we're building houses and saving kids," said Stone, currently shooting a film about Robert Kennedy.

Stone said she had been writing songs with various collaborators for the past year. She worked with songwriters Denise Rich, Mark Feist and Damon Sharpe on Come Together Now, which has been available to buy on the internet since 17 October.

The single will also form part of a compilation album called Hurricane Relief: Come Together Now, which will include contributions from Elton John, John Mayer, Barbra Streisand and James Brown. Read more...

October 2005 Celebrity-hosted arts event benefits ACT

Fort Myers, Florida- Hollywood movie star Sharon Stone was the celebrity host for the 6th annual Arts for ACT (Abuse Counseling and Treatment, Inc.) event at the Harborside Event Center, with more than 1,500 art lovers in attendance. The not-for-profit organization provides shelter, counseling and support to victims of domestic violence and their children, with the annual art auction as its largest fundraiser. With a goal of $600,000, this year's event raised $465,000, compared to only $325,000, which was raised in 2004 due to Hurricane Charley.

"Everybody can play" yells Stone. "If you're not playing, don't talk. If you do, I'll take it as a bid." The highest bid went to the world-renowned Robert Rauschenberg's piece for $75,000. Stone said an earlier work by the artist was just recently sold for $30 million to the Museum of Modern Art in New York. "His pieces are just going through the roof." Several other artists with pieces in the event include Daryl Pottorf ($25,000), Romero Britto ($5,500) and Marcus Antonius Jansen ($3,000). And, Stone actually sold the dress off her back for $12,500 and the white linen table cloth with which she wrapped herself, sold for $2,000.

Basic Instinct's Sharon Stone has been voted the most ageless movie star. She beat Oscar winner Marisa Tomei and Four Weddings And A Funeral's Andie MacDowell to land a US magazine's title. The mag's editors gave Sharon, 47, top marks for continuing to look fanstastic without the need for cosmetic surgery.
Singer Sheryl Crow,Will Smith, Michelle Pfeiffer and Tom Cruise also made the top 10.

May 12th 2005 Maternal Instinct: Sharon Stone Adopts Boy

Sharon Stone, who is currently in London filming 'Basic Instinct 2', has adopted a baby boy, born to "unknown and unrelated parents in Texas", named Laird Vonne Stone by the actress.
Stone's publicist, Cindi Berger, added "Mommy and her boys are over the moon".

Apr 1st 2005 Stone sells S.F. home

Actress Sharon Stone just found a buyer for her San Francisco house, getting close to the $15 million asking price.
The 47-year-old "Basic Instinct" co-star put the 10,000-square- foot home on the market last fall. She bought it in 1998 and shared it with her husband at the time, San Francisco Chronicle editor Phil Bronstein. The couple divorced in 2003.

The 7-bedroom, 9-bath residence has panoramic views of the Golden Gate Bridge and the Pacific Ocean, and is located in the Seacliff area of the city, south of the bridge. A buyer wasn't named. The house, which was built in 1908, was once owned by Phoebe Hearst, the mother of publishing magnate William Randolph Hearst. Stone has relocated to Beverly Hills.

January 29th 2005 Sharon Stone raises $1m for African aid

Sharon Stone raised $1m in five minutes from business leaders at the Davos World Economic Forum to buy nets to protect African children from malaria-carrying mosquitoes.
