Sharon Stone Helps Raise
Over $1 Million at
amfAR Benefit in Dallas
Stone Shines as Auctioneer at Second Annual
Two By Two For AIDS And Art Auction Benefiting
amfAR and The Dallas Museum of Art
Dallas, Texas
Sharon Stone served as host and auctioneer at the second annual Two By Two for AIDS and Art, a black-tie dinner and art auction to benefit the American Foundation for AIDS Research (amfAR) and the Dallas Museum of Art (DMA) on Saturday, February 26. The event, which raised well over $1 million for the two organizations, featured live, internet, and silent auctions of a total of 120 works. Stone drove the bidding high on live auction works by such noted contemporary artists as Robert Rauschenberg, Robert Mapplethorpe, Patrick Demarchelier, and Ross Bleckner, and brought in $60,000 for 6 tickets to the annual Miramax Oscar party, which were donated by Miramax Films.
Other artists donating works to the Two by Two for AIDS and Art auctions included Annie Leibovitz, Andres Serrano, Todd Oldham, Julian Schnabel, and Dan Rizzie.
On Sunday, February 27, Stone presented Robert Rauschenberg with amfAR’s Award of Excellence for Artistic Contributions to the Fight Against AIDS at a private luncheon. Rauschenberg, who has long been one of amfAR’s most committed and generous supporters, has donated $1.1 million in art to the Foundation through the years and was the first artist to receive this award.
